A LITTLE PLANNING. A BETTER FIT.
Choose organizer sizes before you buy
A storage box can look perfect online and still have a very awkward first meeting with your shelf. This free Storage Fit Planner helps you turn usable measurements into a practical size limit and a simple layout for your closet, kitchen cabinet, drawer, under-bed space, bathroom or pantry. A little measuring now can save you a round of furniture negotiations later.
Start with usable space
Enter the inside width, depth and clear height in centimeters or inches. Leave room for hinges, handles, drawer slides and removing the organizer. Those hinges already live here; they are not moving out.
See a simple layout
Choose one, two, four or six equal zones. See the overall size envelope, suggested zone dimensions and a top-view illustration. Give each group of belongings a place before the miscellaneous pile claims the whole shelf.
Explore suitable types
Compare dividers, trays, baskets, bins or storage bags, then check the selected product variant. Try containers you already own, too. A perfectly useful shoebox does not need a rebrand to join the team.
The planner suggests dimensions and organizer types. Actual fit depends on the selected variant, obstructions, container walls and access space. Check those details before buying; your shelf has a strict no-stretching policy.

BEFORE YOU REORGANIZE
Storage Fit Planner FAQ
A few useful answers before you and your tape measure start rearranging the household.
How do I measure a drawer, shelf or cabinet for organizers?
Your tape measure needs the inside story. Measure the usable inside width, depth and clear height at the narrowest points. Check the opening as well as the interior: hinges, runners, frames and pipes may reduce access. For under-bed storage, measure below the lowest obstruction and leave room to pull the bag or container out.
How much clearance should I leave around a storage organizer?
Enough for the organizer to come back out without a wrestling match. There is no single allowance for every space. The planner starts with 1 cm, which you can edit; switching to inches converts that allowance. Increase it when handles, flexible bags, doors or removal access need more room. The entered allowance is subtracted once from each full dimension, not once from each side or each zone.
Should I choose drawer dividers, trays, baskets or bins?
Choose according to what you store and how you reach it. Dividers separate categories inside a drawer. Trays group small items you want to see and retrieve. Baskets and open bins suit shelf-based groups, while storage bags can suit dry items kept under a bed. Check material, dimensions and intended use. The best organizer is one you can put things back into on an ordinary Tuesday.
How are the suggested storage dimensions calculated?
The planner subtracts your clearance allowance from the full width, depth and height. It divides the remaining width and depth into your selected equal zones. For example, a 50 × 40 × 20 cm space with a 1 cm allowance has a 49 × 39 × 19 cm envelope. Four zones are each 24.5 cm wide and 19.5 cm deep before allowing for divider or container walls.
The top-view diagram is adjusted for readability. Rectangular volume describes the planning envelope; it does not predict actual item capacity or a space-utilization percentage.
Can I use inches instead of centimeters?
Yes. Select your preferred unit. Switching units converts the entered width, depth, height and clearance allowance. Build the plan again after changing units, and compare product dimensions using the same unit.
Does a recommended product automatically fit my space?
A promising match still needs a measurement check. Recommendations identify useful product types or series. A linked product may offer several sizes, set quantities or variants. Select the option you need on the product page and compare its outer dimensions with your plan. Also check usable inner capacity, handle clearance and whether doors or drawers can open fully. An organizer that fits only with the door permanently open has missed part of the brief.
Can I save my measurements for another visit?
Yes. After entering valid measurements, select “Save inputs.” They are saved in the current browser on this device and can load when you return. Saving depends on your browser allowing local storage. Clearing site data removes the measurements; they do not automatically sync across devices. Future you gets fewer reasons to crawl under the bed with a tape measure.
Can I use the planner without buying new organizers?
Absolutely. Your existing boxes are allowed to keep their jobs. The planner is free to use. Try the suggested layout with boxes, trays or baskets you already own. Product links provide optional examples of organizer types, and the related illustrated guides offer further reading. You can also print the generated plan to use while measuring or rearranging.
